One of our favorite weekend brunch experiences is at JB’s on the Beach in Deerfield Beach, (Hillsboro exit on I-95.) JB’s interior is beautifully designed with high-end finishes and shimmering sea-glass-blue mosaic tiles, but we reserve the patio to sit on the edge of beautiful Deerfield Beach, watch the ocean, sip the complimentary Mimosa, and relax.
Between 10 and 3, a “Breakfast at Lunch” menu includes starters like “Japanese Bagel” Fish Dip on wonton chips, lunch handhelds, and a few popular hot entrees. The brunch items are the stars, led by a variety of Bennies, including Traditional Eggs Benedict, Lobster (with Applewood bacon under the eggs, served with sweet corn and baby potato hash) and JB’s signature Crab Cakes Benedict.
The Latin Breakfast is a delicious griddled Columbian corn and cheese fritter topped with pulled pork, fried eggs and crispy onions served with spicy chili sauce and avocado crema. Nashville Hot (as in spicy) Chicken & Waffle, with dill pickle chips and maple syrup; Four-Cheese Lobster Soufflé, creamy and satisfying ,with green salad and fresh fruit; and naturally-sourced filet Steak and Eggs on vegetable hash with avocado salsa, are all great picks. So is the unique Bagel Melt: a toasted Everything bagel with a schmear, thin-sliced honey ham, tomato, a drape of provolone, sizzled under the broiler. (This traditional Danish combo of ham and cream cheese is wonderful; try it at home with prosciutto!) Don’t ever pass up a relaxing, refreshing brunch at JB’s!
