In Palm Beach County, local Cuban restaurants are clustered east to west from US 1 to 441 between Southern Blvd. and Forest Hill Blvd., and many Cuban bakery cafes between Southern and Lake Worth Rd. The famous Cuban sandwich (commonly called “a Cuban”), and Pastelitos (or Pasteles), cream cheese and guava-filled puff pastries that are a morning staple with café con leche — Cuban latte — can be had at these cafes. Delicias has locations in two gas stations, on Federal Highway in Lake Worth Beach and on Georgia Ave. in West Palm; Union Bakery on N. Dixie Highway, Lake Worth Beach; Tropical Bakery & Café on Kirk Rd. just south of Forest Hill in Palm Springs; Tulipan Café Bakery on Belvedere west of Federal Highway; and Enzo’s Café on 10th Ave. N. in Palm Springs (north of Lake Worth) offer pastries and plenty of great lunch options.

Landmark Havana on S. Dixie and Forest Hill Blvd. captures a bit of the retro romance of its namesake (yes, you can imagine Hemingway at the bar sipping on a lime-light rum-cola Cuba Libré) in intimate rooms on three levels; the original Don Ramon Restaurante Cubano down the street, where live music and colorful, rustic ambiance await; and Don Ramon in Wellington on Forest Hill Blvd., with sister locations on Military Trail in West Palm and Southern Blvd. in Royal Palm (none affiliated with the original Don Ramon Restaurante Cubano. Long story… family breakups in the restaurant business are legendary.)
