At La Cigale in Delray, Braised Osso Buco (veal shank) with creamy polenta from Milan and Traditional French Coq Au Vin with bacon, pearl onions and mushrooms are on the same menu! Other entrees include Roasted Half Duck with blackcurrant reduction, sweet potato mash and asparagus; and a variety of steak and lamb chops. Numerous fish entrees include bouillabaisse, French seafood stew in saffron-tomato broth, traditionally served in Provence with crispy grilled bread and rouille, an egg yolk, olive oil and saffron mayo.
La Cigale calls the dish “Cioppino,” a similar San Francisco seafood stew. Mediterranean Branzini is served skin-on with braised fennel, roma tomatoes and black olive tapenade, Dover Sole is deboned tableside, and seared Ahi Tuna goes Mediterranean with artichoke hearts, tomatoes, feta and Kalamata olives — and a bit of wasabi cream. Desserts from tiramisu to crème brûlée, Peach Melba to Calvados (apple brandy)-flamed apple Tarte Tatín offer a sweet finish.
At the bar (which faces an additional long double-sided counter to accommodate overflow) drinks are two-for-one between 4:30 and 6:30 daily. Every evening from 5-7, a $25 bar menu offers selected meat and fish entrees from the regular dinner menu as well as tender veal and chicken Milanese, Parmigiana, Marsala and Piccata. You’ll love the relaxed, joie de vivre atmosphere and friendly service!
