Set back a bit in the Somerset Shoppes just east of Lyons Rd., LuBlu has a dog-friendly sidewalk café, plenty of indoor tables and a huge selection of stunning cakes and pastries that will knock you out. If you need an occasion cake at the last minute, this is the place. Classic European-style tortes are works of art, (Opera, Sachertorte, Praline, etc.) are surrounded by Napoleons and eclairs, palmiers, many flavors of croissants and sweet brioche. Menu offerings include quiche; prepared plates like Avocado Toast on sunflower seed bread with smoked salmon, eggs, prosciutto, or burrata; and numerous crepes. Biggest surprise: Filled Beignets rolled in sugar and stuffed with chocolate crème, custard or raspberry coulis. Take home a bunch, along with some coffee-custard eclairs. OMG! LuBlu Bakery 8903 Glades Rd. W., 8-6 M-Sat., 8-5 Sun.
Family owned and operated, Bakery of France is a traditional French bistro and pastry shop with breads, croissants and freshly baked pastries. It really feels Parisien. Choose the pleasant garden patio (we brought our pooch along) or the indoor brasserie-style dining area for breakfast/lunch sandwiches, plus salads, soups, quiche and crêpes. Our morning favorites: French Apple Turnover; French Toast croissant; authentically French Breakfast platter of toasted baguette, butter, jam and fruit; and Crepe Madame with ham, cheese, béchamel sauce, and a sunny-side up egg. Bakery of France 625 NE Spanish River, E. Boca 8-6 Daily.
