Like any proper diner, Poppies’ menu is huge, so in addition to the many specials we’ talked about recently, there are all-day Benedicts, hot hand-rolled bagel sandwiches, smoked fish platters, wraps, and numerous griddle specialties. Try the Oreo pancakes, Granny Smith pancakes, Red Velvet pancakes, or Almond or Apple Cinnamon French Toast. Chicken & Waffle has become an au courant anytime treat, as are comfort-food Cheese Blintzes (hiding in the “Snacks & Starters” section of the menu) arrive with applesauce or sour cream.

At lunch, a cup of soup and half sandwich is $16. Almost all salads, overstuffed deli, grilled and salad sandwiches, and burgers range between $15 and $20. Classic salads — Cobb, Chef’s, Caesar, Greek, Twin or Triplet Salad plates, and Stuffed Tomato – are joined by Avocado Mango Salad with strawberries, almonds and citrus dressing; Power Up Quinoa salad with veggies, feta and walnuts; and Healthy Harvest with roasted beets, avocado, pecans and goat cheese.

Deli sandwiches (the usual suspects, plus tongue, off-the-frame turkey, roast beef) and Grilled Sandwiches (Rachel, Reuben, Tuna Melt, etc.) are served with fries, potato pancake, potato salad or cole slaw, as are Burgers and hot Specialty Sandwiches like the Jersey Burger (pork roll, egg and cheese on a hard roll), Philly Cheese Steak, deli-style Sloppy Joes, French Dip, and hefty pastrami-corned beef triple-deckers, aptly dubbed the “Knickerbocker” Club.
