On July 1, a Fla. sales tax exemption period began for Energy Star appliances, but there’s no rush to buy: It runs for a full year, through June 30, 2024.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida’s latest sales-tax holiday start on Saturday, July 1, and this one runs for a full year – through June 30, 2024.
During the sales-tax-exemption period, buyers don’t need to pay sales tax on certain appliances that carry an Energy Star rating, which means its designated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy as meeting or exceeding each agency’s requirements under the Energy Star program.
Not all appliances qualify. If one does, it’s affixed with an Energy Star label.
The sales tax exemption does not apply when the new Energy Star appliance is purchased for trade, business or resale, and it doesn’t apply to appliance rentals.
