Fifteen years ago Ralph Disalvo and Andrew Garavuso created Sicilian Oven, a wood-fired pizza restaurant with fresh, affordable food. With its eighth location recently opened in Wellington (Aventura, Coral Springs, Boca, Ft. Lauderdale, etc.), Sicilian Oven has amazingly replicated consistently good food, provided attentive service, and still keeps prices down.
At the Delray location, the “bargain” lunch our friends raved about was terrific. Only at lunch time, 11:30-3, Sicilian Oven offers generously-portioned specials — including various types of wood-fired pizza– served with a family-style garden salad. Pizzas are made with fresh dough (gluten-free and whole grain available), Italian tomatoes, quality mozzarella and Locatelli Romano cheeses, and extra-virgin olive oil. A Basic personal lunch pizza & salad (with 23 extra toppings at $1-$4 each); or a Gourmet, Specialty or Select pizza range from $10-14.
“The Bianco” four-cheese white pie is $11; a “Chicken Reggiano” pie, with chicken cutlet pieces, ricotta and shaved Parmigiano Reggiano, is $13; and “The Corleone,” with Italian sausage, roasted mushrooms, basil, spicy tomato sauce and a touch of white truffle oil, is $14. Delicious Wood-Fired Wings & salad is $9; Sicilian Lasagna with salad is $10. Grilled Panetta sandwiches, $9 and $10 with salad, include “The Fughedaboutit,” with eggplant, prosciutto, fresh mozz, roasted peppers, arugula and tomato; and “Pollo Prizzi,” chicken cutlet with fresh mozz, garlic aioli.
