The new Bagels With Deli on W. Atlantic Avenue is the shiny new penny in the ‘hood. Word has spread quickly about the bagels, flagels and bialys, super-fresh salads (sandwiches, platters and by the pound), make-your-own salad bowls, wraps, and generous breakfasts. Place your order at a long, cafeteria-style counter, receive a check, pay the cashier, and set your numbered placard on your table so your server can deliver your order.
Robert Bloom, whose Grandma Lillian established Detroit institution, Bloom’s Kosher, has gifted us with two Delray shops serving the top-quality deli we crave but can’t always find. Breakfast all day features 16 varieties of bagels, five spreads including cinnamon honey walnut and NY Peppered Nova, omelet platters, griddle specialties and yogurt-fruit parfaits. Creative egg sandwiches on your choice of bagel (or Kaiser roll or wrap) are a nice alternative; try the “Weight Watcher” – egg whites, Honey turkey, tomato and Provolone, $7.49. Lunch wraps, served with a side and big enough to share, include Turkey Cobb, filled with turkey breast, swiss cheese, chopped egg, red onion, avocado, tomato, romaine and bleu cheese dressing, $12.99.
Deli faves include Cranberry Lemon Dill Tuna (try it on a Marble bagel), $10.99; House-roasted Rare Roast Beef with a side, like potato salad, $11.99; and Hot Pastrami with slaw on a Kaiser roll, $12.99. If you’re an iced coffee fan, there’s even French Roast, so when the ice melts, it still tastes like coffee!
